 Universiade Translation and Interpretation Volunteers in Bad Need
 According to the organizing committee of the Universiade, SHENZHEN is in dire need of voluntary translators and interpreters for languages not widely used for the Universiade.
 The translators will help translate related news and other files, while the interpreters will help foreign athletes and visitors at airports, checkpoints and sports venues.
 Shenzhen will recruit 20,000 venue volunteers, 250,000 city volunteers and 1 million social volunteers for the Universiade.
 Along with the coming Universiade, the city has launched a campaign to remove and correct signs displaying poor English in public places.
 The city’ foreign affairs department has compiled standards for the English translation of public signs, which can be downloaded at .
 This is one of a series of efforts the city government has mobilized to build an international city and project a good image for the Universiade in August when about 13,000 athletes from 180 countries and regions are expected.
